Speaker Johnson's Politicking: A Masterclass in Hypocrisy

House Speaker Mike Johnson’s recent flip-flop over releasing Jeffrey Epstein’s secret files isn't just political maneuvering—it's the ultimate example of Washington hypocrisy.

Publicly, Johnson is all in for transparency. On July 15, he eagerly told the press he wanted to release “everything” the DOJ holds on Epstein, urging AG Pam Bondi to explain her suspicious statements about a mysterious "client list." He talked tough, saying transparency was essential for restoring public trust and satisfying the restless MAGA base demanding accountability.

But when Democrats actually tried to force his hand with an amendment in the House Rules Committee and a floor vote, Johnson and his fellow Republicans blocked it with a razor-thin 211–210 vote. Why? They claimed it was all about process, whining that Democrats were trying to hijack the agenda. Suddenly, Johnson wasn't so concerned with truth or trust—he cared more about maintaining GOP control over procedural details.

The message was clear: Johnson loves transparency…as long as it doesn’t come from Democrats. Apparently, exposing Epstein’s secrets is important—but not as important as ensuring Republicans control how and when those secrets are exposed. For Johnson, the rules of the game matter more than justice or accountability.

Far From Woke verdict: Mike Johnson just delivered a masterclass in political doublespeak. Transparency, it seems, only applies when convenient.
