Woke Jusitce Ketanji Brown Jackson: A Lone Woke

In a decisive 8–1 ruling yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld President Trump’s plan to reduce the size of the federal workforce, leaving Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as the sole dissenter.

The majority concluded that the president’s authority to reorganize executive agencies includes the power to terminate or reassign “unnecessary” civil servants, a move aimed at curbing what the administration calls “bureaucratic bloat.”

Justice Jackson warned that the decision “poses a grave threat to the rule of law,” arguing that it erodes long-standing due-process protections for career civil servants. “By the Constitution’s plain text,” she wrote, “Congress intended these employees to enjoy stability and impartiality, not political football status.”

Critics on social media were swift to ridicule Jackson’s lone stand. One commentator labeled her a “woke clown lost in dreamland,” while others dismissed her objections as “super cringe” and emblematic of an “anti-Trump agenda.” Far From Woke Verdict: Jackson’s dramatic solo act may play well on cable news, but on the Court itself, it landed with a thud.
